About this opportunity:

We are seeking a Senior Maintenance Planner – Electrical/Instrumentation/Rotating to support safe, reliable, and efficient refinery operations through the planning and coordination of proactive and corrective maintenance activities at the Lloydminster Refinery. This position works closely with operations, engineering, and maintenance teams to prioritize work, resolve plant vulnerabilities, and ensure maintenance tasks are fully prepared for execution.

The successful candidate will apply high reliability organization principles to enhance safety and productivity, while developing detailed work plans that eliminate delays related to materials, tools, permits, and coordination. This position also supports continuous improvement of maintenance procedures and standards, ensuring alignment with COIMS requirements and leveraging data analysis to drive performance.

Work Environment:

  • This position is located in Lloydminster and requires the successful candidate to live in the area.

  • This is a full-time employee position.

What you’ll do:

  • Plan and coordinate preventative and corrective maintenance activities using the maintenance work management process to ensure safe, efficient, and reliable execution.

  • Identify hazards and risks, develop detailed job plans with Job Hazard Analysis (JHA), and incorporate control of work requirements into all maintenance planning.

  • Support contractor management, including selection, onboarding, and oversight, while conducting field inspections to identify unsafe conditions and system gaps.

  • Ensure process safety compliance by planning Safety Critical Element PMs, adhering to Electrical Safety Code of Practice, and following Management of Change (MOC) procedures.

  • Manage work order planning to meet MWMP targets and KPIs, while maintaining accurate equipment history, failure coding, and supporting reliability improvement initiatives.

  • Collaborate with Purchasing, Warehouse, and vendors to ensure availability of materials and spare parts, optimize inventory levels, and approve external maintenance services.

Who you are:

Our ideal candidate will have the following minimum requirements:

  • Legally authorized to work in Canada

  • Minimum 8 years of experience in a heavy process industry environment, including at least 5 years applying maintenance management methods, standards, strategies, and best practices.

  • Journeyperson Trades Certification (Interprovincial preferred), ideally as a J/M Electrician or J/M Instrumentation Technician; J/M Millwright also considered.

  • 2-year Engineering Technology Diploma from a recognized post-secondary institution, specializing in Electrical or Instrumentation.

  • Strong commitment to safety with a solid understanding of regulatory requirements, safety standards, and safe work practices.

  • Minimum 5 years of experience in planning, scheduling, coordination, or supervision of multi-trade work groups, including development and sustainment of maintenance management systems.

As this position has been identified as safety sensitive, employment of a final candidate selected for this position will be conditional upon successful completion of required pre-employment medical and alcohol/drug assessments.

For this position you will be required to maintain a Class 5 driver's license, a satisfactory driving record, and adhere to the appropriate Company policies and guidelines.  A driver's abstract will be one of the background checks requested in the pre-employment screening for the final candidate.
