What is the $30 verification fee?
The $30 verification fee is a one-time payment for businesses that want a basic directory listing without a subscription. It covers account verification and keeps the directory spam-free. If you choose a Silver, Gold, or Platinum plan, verification is included — the $30 fee does not apply.
Do I need an account to add a business?
Yes. You must create a verified Oil Authority account with a confirmed email address and pay the one-time $30 verification fee before your business listing goes live.
What information is required to list a business?
You must provide the business name, a business email address, phone number, and a full mailing address. The address is mandatory for verification, but you can choose whether to display it publicly on your profile.
Can I upgrade from Basic to a subscription plan?
Absolutely. If you started with the $30 basic verification, you can upgrade to Silver, Gold, or Platinum at any time to unlock additional features like website links, job postings, and priority placement. The $30 you already paid is not credited toward a subscription.
How does payment work?
All payments are processed securely via Stripe. If you choose a subscription (Silver, Gold, or Platinum), verification is included and you can pay monthly or annually, saving up to 30% with annual billing. The $30 basic verification is only charged if you are not subscribing to a paid tier. We accept Visa, Mastercard, American Express, Apple Pay, and Google Pay.
Can I cancel my subscription?
Yes. If you pay monthly, you can cancel anytime and your listing reverts to Basic at the end of that month. If you chose annual billing for the discount, cancellation takes effect at the end of the annual term. Either way you keep your verified listing, just without the subscription features. The $30 verification fee is non-refundable.
Can I upgrade or downgrade my plan?
Yes. You can upgrade at any time and the change takes effect immediately (prorated billing). Downgrades take effect at the end of your current billing period, reverting to the tier below.
What is a "sponsored homepage placement"?
Platinum members get their business logo and name featured on the Oil Authority homepage, visible to all visitors. Placement is on a rotation basis among active Platinum sponsors.
How do per-item purchases work?
If you are on a Basic or Silver plan, you can post individual job listings ($25), marketplace listings ($20-$30 depending on tier), or press releases ($45-$50 depending on tier) without upgrading. Payment is upfront via Stripe. Gold and Platinum subscribers get these features included in their subscription at no extra cost.
How long do marketplace listings last?
Marketplace listings are active for 90 days. After expiry, you have 30 days to relist the item for $15 (or free for Gold+ subscribers). After 120 days, expired listings that have not been relisted are permanently removed. When relisting, you can update the description, images, and price, but the product title cannot be changed.
Can I connect my Shopify or WooCommerce store?
Yes. Gold and Platinum subscribers can connect their Shopify or WooCommerce store to automatically sync products into the Oil Authority marketplace. Products are updated regularly and appear under your business store tab.
Can I submit a careers feed from my ATS?
Yes. Gold and Platinum subscribers can connect their ATS (Workday, Greenhouse, Lever, and others) to automatically import job listings. Feeds are synced hourly. Silver subscribers can post up to 10 jobs per month manually or purchase individual postings for $25 each.
