Job Description:

Role Purpose

The overall purpose of this role is to deliver projects in accordance with Air bp’s central processes, procedures and guidelines, and local requirements. The postholder will be responsible for managing the safe, on‑time and on‑budget delivery of engineering and maintenance projects in North Europe. In addition, the role will promote collaboration with other disciplines, teams, subfunctions and contractors to systematically resolve problems.

Project & Contract Management

  • Lead projects through the thorough application of Management of Change and Capital Value Process.
  • Act as main project liaison and drive the Capital Value Process in projects applying EPC‑contractor.
  • Monitor and complete ongoing project works; deliver projects in line with the CAPEX and REVEX plan.
  • Prepare project budget estimates, monitor CAPEX flow, manage cost control, and oversee post‑job capitalization.
  • Ensure project teams access and use relevant lessons learned from other projects throughout various phases, and ensure lessons learned are collected for future projects.
  • Lead resources (bp staff and contractors) to ensure the successful completion of multiple projects simultaneously.
  • Provide input to project solutions, considering local legislation, governmental agencies, operational requirements, and compliance with Air bp standards, while incorporating requirements from other relevant subject areas (e.g., product quality, supply logistics, HSSE).
  • Attend and/or drive engineering processes such as design reviews and risk assessments, and take the lead where required in obtaining approval of design and installation drawings.
  • Assist in tendering, selection, and vetting of contractors performing project works.
  • Handle project variation requests and change orders, assessing both engineering impact and cost implications.

Construction Management and Supervision

  • Support work at sites during construction and commissioning to ensure comprehensive handover to operations.
  • Prepare work programs for efficient and accurate completion of site works by contractors.
  • Approve construction materials and equipment installations.
  • Coordinate planned construction activities with affected site managers.
  • Ensure consultants and contractors adhere to Air bp’s Health, Safety, Security and Environment (HSSE) policies and procedures during all work undertaken on behalf of Air bp or on Air bp sites.
  • Participate in HSSE training, discussions, workplace inspections and audits, and assist in resolving health and safety issues as required.
  • Work with Air bp Technical Authorities to facilitate work permitting in accordance with Air bp’s Control of Works regime and promote HSSE awareness during project construction.

Other Responsibilities

  • Act as a champion of the Management of Change and Capital Value Process and promote cost effectiveness.
  • Collaborate closely with the Engineering team, providing input on engineering solutions and supporting the integrity management program.
  • Contribute engineering input and guidance for procurement of specialized materials and equipment from local and international suppliers.
  • Support successful implementation of HSSE programs and align with all HSSE directions from line management.
  • Support the wider North Europe operations and Joint Venture team members in delivering their accountabilities.

Education

  • Degree in a relevant technical field, preferably with postgraduate experience or equivalent training in project management.

Essential Experience and Job Requirements

  • Experience in control of construction projects.
  • Ability to build positive working relationships with external authorities and contractors.
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills in English.
  • Excellent knowledge and application of project management tools.
  • Ability to work independently during site visits or as part of a team.
  • Understanding of Knowledge Management.
  • Work‑to‑closure mentality within tight deadlines.
  • Ability to lead discussions and actions across multiple projects simultaneously.
  • Good PC/IT skills.
  • Flexibility and willingness to travel for extended periods as required for project delivery.

Desirable Criteria

  • Project management experience.
  • Risk assessment and management.
  • Safety and risk knowledge.
  • Nordic language skills (Norway, Sweden, Denmark, Finland).
