Bring your electrical engineering leadership to a position that directly influences asset health, system reliability, and safe operations across our gas transmission network. In this high impact role, you will provide and coordinate specialized electrical engineering support for U.S. Gas Transmission assets, ensuring the safe, reliable and efficient operation of essential power systems!

What you will do:

Engineering Services

  • Provide development and maintenance of electrical equipment specifications, design and construction standards
  • Provide stewardship for electrical operating/maintenance procedures, commissioning equipment checks and testing requirements
  • Provide technical interpretations and guidance regarding standards and codes for Enbridge operations, project groups and other collaborators
  • Find opportunities and lead technical analysis and implementation of new technologies
  • Provide power protection support and coordination/arc flash studies
  • Provide leadership and technical knowledge to drive department initiatives and department development items
  • Provide technical leadership and direction associated with asset health and reliability, asset condition-based maintenance and fleet management

Operations Support

  • Provide power systems engineering and technical support
  • Troubleshoot, analyze, and prepare solutions for electrical issues related to medium and high voltage electrical assets, operating, testing and commissioning
  • Provide leadership for electrical systems/asset reliability, quality, and electrical safety support
  • Provide technical leadership for regional engineers, technical supervisors, contract engineers, and specialists to develop solutions to equipment and process reliability issues
  • Drive development of asset reliability assessment and prioritization to support capital and maintenance budget development activities including Risk Register items supporting Long Range Planning and Forecasting
  • Provide technical mentoring and training to engineers, regional technicians and other support groups
  • Provide technical leadership for failure analyses and incident investigations

Project Support

  • Support technical design reviews
  • Provide engineering expertise and participate in designs to project managers on capital projects or programs within the regions supported
  • Provide technical review and sign off electrical test results
  • Provide power protective relay commissioning support
  • Support junior engineers in navigating complex issues solutioning regarding projects

Who you are:

You have:

  • 10+ years of progressive experience in electrical engineering and power along with a bachelor’s degree in engineering in addition to an acceptable driving record that will be verified upon hire
  • Knowledge of power systems, power system coordination and modeling.

You can:

  • Lead efforts to solve complex technical problems and coordinate between departments while being able to lead and manage multiple assignments and meet established deadlines while managing collaborator expectations
  • Interact with peers, internal collaborators, vendors and service providers while also being a mentor to less experienced engineers

You are:

  • An excellent written and verbal communicator with effective report composition
  • Responsive to provide timely quality results appropriate to the corporate risk/urgency as a consequence to system incidents or asset performance inputs   

The following are considered assets:

  • Registration as a professional engineer or the ability to obtain PE license within one year after hire
  • Knowledgeable with regulatory and industry codes/standards, including: NFPA 70, 70E, NESC, IEEE and other applicable standards
  • Knowledge of power systems, power system coordination and modeling.
  • SKM experience
  • Possess a working level knowledge of design and operation of liquid pipelines, pump stations, terminal facilities, pipeline hydraulics, and knowledge of related technologies such as mechanical, process control systems and instrumentation
  • Perform power systems studies, using SKM, and provide power system support for design, maintenance and trouble shooting

Working Conditions:

  • Work performed in typical office environment with scheduled travel and occasional urgent response needs related to investigations or field activities
  • Travel to work locations is expected, however short-term travel may be more frequent for incident response and/or technical support of work within the region
  • After hours regional support is expected with a company provided phone

Physical Requirements include but are not limited to:

Grasping, kneeling, light – moderate lifting (objects up to 20 pounds), reaching above shoulder, repetitive motion, typing, sitting, standing, visual requirement (able to see screens, detect color coding, read fine print), hearing requirement and the ability to sit at a computer for long periods of time.

Ability to: understand, remember and apply oral and/or written instructions or other information, understand complex problems and collaborate/explore alternative solutions, organize thoughts and ideas into understandable terminology, organize and prioritize work schedule on a short-term basis, make decisions which have moderate impact on the immediate work unit and monitor impact outside this area, understand and follow basic instructions and guidelines, complete routine forms, compose letters, outlines, memoranda and basic reports and communicate with individuals via telephone.
