Job Description:

At bp, we’re re‑imagining convenience and food retail to deliver great customer experiences while driving sustainable, profitable growth. We’re looking for a Food Category Team Lead to shape and lead our food category strategy across Australia.

In this role, you’ll combine commercial acumen, customer insight, and data‑driven decision‑making to optimise assortment, performance, and partnerships—playing a pivotal role in how customers experience food at bp every day.

What you’ll do

  • Lead the development and execution of food category strategies, aligning product assortment, pricing, promotions, and merchandising with customer needs and business objectives.

  • Use customer data, analytics, and market insights to identify trends, growth opportunities, and performance levers, translating insights into clear commercial recommendations.

  • Build and manage strong supplier partnerships, leading negotiation planning, joint business plans, and ongoing relationship management to deliver shared value.

  • Drive category performance through budget ownership, KPI management, and continuous improvement supported by Agility core practices.

  • Collaborate closely with operations, marketing, and supply chain using digital collaboration tools to ensure consistent and effective execution in store.

  • Lead, coach, and develop team members, embedding knowledge sharing, retail training, and customer‑centric thinking across the category.

What you’ll bring

  • Proven experience in retail category management within the food sector, with a demonstrated ability to drive profitable growth.

  • Strong commercial acumen, supported by advanced analytical thinking, customer data knowledge, and data visualisation skills.

  • Experience applying Agility core practices in fast‑paced, evolving retail environments.

  • Effective communication and influencing skills, with confidence engaging stakeholders at multiple levels.

  • Track record in supplier negotiation, partner relationship management, and retail territory development or expansion.

  • Passion for building capability through coaching, retail training, and continuous learning.
