Step into a key leadership role at the heart of our Edmonton Refinery’s laboratory operations. We’re looking for someone ready to lead a frontline team, uphold rigorous quality standards, and ensure our lab runs safely, reliably, and in full compliance every day. In this role, you will oversee all aspects of laboratory services—from quality management system responsibilities to supervising personnel—while championing Suncor’s policies, procedures, and values as a frontline leader.What we offer:

Minimum Requirements:
Technical experience within a laboratory or engineering environment
Post-secondary education in chemistry, chemical technology, or engineering
Demonstrated success in motivating and developing safe, high‑performing teams

Responsibilities:
Provide leadership and guidance ensuring the lab is safely and accurately delivering laboratory services to the refinery to meet the requirements of the quality management system and lab results which give visibility to operational parameters
Constructively communicate to other refinery teams any issues identified by the lab, and any lab reliability concerns with may impact lab services
Ensure risks within the lab are appropriately assessed, managed, and escalated
Ensure lab assets are being properly maintained and oversees proper installation and commissioning of new lab equipment
Ensure procurement activities for both materials and services are meeting the needs of the lab
Coordinate the review and update of laboratory procedures and training material as required
Ensure compliance with incident management and corrective action standards for the lab, including timely completion of incident investigations
Manage the workforce in alignment with the CBA and ensures adequate resources are in place to deliver lab services
Location and other Key Details:
You will work out of our Edmonton Refinery in Sherwood Park, located at 801 Petroleum Way
Hours of work are a regular 40-hour week, Monday to Friday
