Note: This role will report to the Manager, Storage Transmission Operations (STO) Automation & Controls
What You Will Do:
Provide day‑to‑day supervision and technical leadership for STO Automation and Control Systems personnel supporting safe, reliable gas operations across Lobo, Bright, Parkway and Hagar storage and transmission facilities.
Oversee the operation, maintenance, and modernization of control systems supporting high‑pressure natural gas plant assets, including compressor stations equipped with gas turbines up to 44,000 HP, as well as critical control valves and associated systems.
Provide technical oversight for PLCs, RTUs, SCADA/DCS platforms, gas chromatographs, measurement and instrumentation systems, telecom infrastructure, and on‑site power generation systems supporting STO operations.
Ensure compliance with safety, regulatory, and cyber‑security requirements while reinforcing a strong safety‑first culture.
Coordinate planning and execution of capital projects, system upgrades, and outage activities in collaboration with Operations and Engineering teams.
Lead workforce planning, performance management, and development of technical staff and contractors, while acting as a key liaison with IT/OT, Engineering, and external vendors.
Who You Are:
10 years or more of directly related experience.
College graduate in the field of Instrumentation /Electrical / Controls Technology
Strong diagnostic and critical thinking skills.
Prior supervisory experience.
Understanding of OHSA and your responsibilities
Demonstrated leadership and communication skills – written, verbal and presentation.
Strong analytical skills
Strong technical/mechanical aptitude
Ability to deliver under pressure and tight schedules.
CET certification, eligible for C.E.T. Certification or possess Certification as an Instrumentation Mechanic or Electrician, or registered as a P Eng. with the Ontario Engineers, is preferred.
Solid working knowledge of PLC’s and general control systems is an asset.
Working Conditions
On-call and standby rotation required.
Overtime and out-of-town travel are required.
Must maintain permanent residence within geographic area.
Must meet all safety and compliance requirements for a safety-sensitive role.
Salary:
Ranges from $115,000 – $140,000 CAD for Ontario Canada locations based upon candidate’s experience, skills, and internal equity.
Applicable compensation policies and guidelines apply to internal candidates.
