Looking to build a career in industrial maintenance and utility operations?

Washington Gas is seeking a hands-on Plant Maintenance Technician I to help maintain, troubleshoot, and repair the equipment that supports the safe and reliable delivery of natural gas throughout our service territory. In this role, you'll work on compressors, pumps, motors, valves, regulators, generators, and other critical plant equipment while learning from experienced technicians.

What You'll Do:

  • Operate, maintain, troubleshoot, and repair industrial plant equipment that supports the safe and reliable delivery of natural gas.

  • Work on compressors, pumps, motors, generators, valves, regulators, heaters, and safety systems, including SCADA.

  • Inspect and maintain natural gas, propane, steam, air, and storage systems.

  • Perform preventative maintenance, mechanical repairs, and equipment inspections.

  • Support gate stations, regulator stations, and other Gas Supply Operations facilities.

  • Read and interpret drawings, schematics, P&IDs, and maps.

  • Complete electronic work orders, maintenance records, and required documentation.

  • Participate in shift assignments and an on-call rotation to support operations and emergency response.

Qualifications:

  • High School Diploma or GED is required.

  • Required minimum 18 months of hands-on mechanical or technical experience.

  • Valid Driver's License.

  • Intermediate computer skills and experience using electronic work order systems.

  • Ability to work in industrial plant environments, both indoors and outdoors, in all weather conditions.

  • Ability to complete required training, Operator Qualifications, and pre-employment assessments.

  • Ability to obtain a Maryland 4th Grade Stationary Engineer License within 18 months and pass the Plant Operator I qualification test within 24 months.

You May Be a Great Fit If You Have Experience In:

  • Industrial or manufacturing maintenance.

  • Pumps, compressors, boilers, or rotating equipment.

  • HVAC systems and equipment.

  • Automotive, diesel, marine, or heavy equipment maintenance.

  • Building maintenance or facility operations.

  • Plumbing, pipefitting, or similar skilled trades.

  • Mechanical troubleshooting, repairs, and preventative maintenance.
