About this opportunity:

The primary purpose of this role is to identify, lead, and execute high-value data and analytics initiatives that drive measurable business outcomes. This individual will combine strong business acumen with hands-on technical expertise in Python and/or R, Databricks, and emerging AI capabilities to develop scalable solutions, automate processes, and deliver actionable insights. Success in this role requires the ability to independently identify opportunities, translate business needs into technical solutions, and execute projects from concept through implementation while effectively partnering with stakeholders to ensure adoption and business value realization.

What you’ll do:

  • Identify, prioritize, and execute data, analytics, automation, and AI initiatives that drive measurable business value

  • Partner with stakeholders across Commercial Operations, Business Development, Finance, Market Risk, and Data & IT to understand business needs

  • Translate business requirements into scalable technical solutions and drive projects from concept through implementation

  • Develop data products, analytical models, automation tools, and applications using Python, R, Databricks, and modern data technologies

  • Deliver actionable insights to support decision-making across multiple business areas and locations

  • Operate independently to solve complex business problems with limited direction

  • Ensure solutions are sustainable, well-governed, and aligned with organizational priorities

  • Enhance operational efficiency and advance the organization’s use of data and emerging AI capabilities

Who you are:

Our ideal candidate will have the following minimum requirements:

  • Legally authorized to work in Canada

  • Minimum 8+ years of experience in data or analytics roles, supported by formal education in Business, Economics, Data Science, or a related field

  • Experience in Canadian and U.S. crude and refined products logistics, supply chain, analytics, or comparable industry experience

  • Experience with ETRM systems such as Egistix, Allegro, or RightAngle

  • Strong understanding of data governance frameworks, including best practices for delivering secure, trusted, and high-quality data

  • Experience using Databricks for data engineering, analytics, and application development

  • Proficiency in data analytics and visualization tools (e.g., Power BI, Spotfire, R Studio, or similar)

  • Demonstrated ability to make sound, effective decisions and operate independently

  • Experience managing projects through stage-gate processes
