The Shift (Rotating) Laboratory Technician is responsible for performing a wide range of physical and chemical analyses to support safe, reliable, and efficient manufacturing operations. This role provides laboratory testing services for feedstock, in‑process materials, intermediate streams, finished products, utilities, and wastewater, ensuring product quality, regulatory compliance, and continuous improvement of manufacturing processes.
Responsibilities for this position may include but are not limited to:
Performing routine and non‑routine laboratory analyses using standardized analytical methods.
Operating and maintaining analytical instrumentation, including but not limited to gas chromatographs (FID/PID), ICP analyzers, sulfur/nitrogen analyzers, and titration systems.
Conducting laboratory testing for raw materials, in‑process samples, and finished products used, purchased, or sold.
Supporting investigations of product non‑conformities and assisting with quality troubleshooting activities.
Assisting in the development, implementation, and maintenance of statistical quality control (SQC) tools.
Preparing and issuing laboratory test reports to internal and external stakeholders as required.
Performing preventive maintenance, calibration, verification, and basic troubleshooting of laboratory equipment and instrumentation.
Monitoring laboratory inventory levels (chemicals, consumables, gases) and coordinating reorders to ensure uninterrupted operations.
Managing laboratory waste streams and coordinating proper disposal in accordance with environmental and safety requirements.
Maintaining accurate laboratory documentation, records, notebooks, and technical reports in approved systems.
Developing, reviewing, and maintaining standard operating procedures (SOPs) and laboratory work instructions.
Adhering to all laboratory safety standards, participating in safety inspections, and contributing to continuous improvement of laboratory safety practices.
Maintaining a clean, organized, and inspection‑ready laboratory environment.
Working rotating shifts and overtime as operationally required.
Required Qualifications:
High School Diploma or GED.
Ability to work rotating shifts, including nights, weekends, and overtime as required.
Ability to communicate effectively, both verbally and in writing.
Ability to analyze, document, and explain laboratory data to peers and management.
Ability to organize and manage multiple tasks simultaneously in a deadline‑driven environment.
Ability to perform detailed analytical work with a high level of accuracy.
Ability to work independently as well as collaboratively in a team environment.
Preferred Qualifications:
Associate or Bachelor’s degree in Chemistry, Laboratory Sciences, or a related scientific discipline.
One or more years of experience working in an analytical laboratory environment.
Hands‑on experience with wet chemistry techniques, ICP, and gas chromatography.
Knowledge of oils, fats, agricultural products, petroleum, or related processing industries.
Experience with quality assurance methodologies, including root cause analysis and statistical quality control.
Familiarity with laboratory information systems, Plant Information (PI), JD Edwards, or equivalent systems.
Demonstrated competencies in analytical problem solving, planning and organizing, flexibility, customer focus, and continuous learning.

Once complete, your assessment score will be valid for 365 days. This will resubmit your previous results.
