Chevron Australia has an exciting opportunity for HSE Specialist, Emergency Management to join the Wheatstone HSE team. This role is an Onslow residential role reporting to the Wheatstone HSE Team Lead.

Provides technical guidance on a wide range of emergency preparedness and response issues. Manages emergency response preparedness, response teams (including response drill and exercise coordination), skill development, certification, and training. Manages response processes, including Emergency Response and Management, Incident Command System (ICS), Crisis Management, and Business Continuity.

Supports major customers/clients and leads projects of medium scope and complexity under limited supervision. Detailed knowledge of most aspects of the work function.

about you

The HSE Specialist, Emergency Management co-ordinates execution of the Emergency Management processes, including provision of leadership and expert counsel to leaders, frontline teams, and Business Partners and ensuring compliance with regulatory and corporate requirements.

In addition, the Emergency Management Specialist will:

  • Co-ordinate Emergency Management onsite, interfacing with and providing EM SME guidance to the Leadership Team
  • Coach and develop incident commanders and new members of the Emergency Management Team during drills and exercises including providing guidance during EMT activation
  • Maintain the suite of emergency management plans (i.e.: Emergency Response Plan, Muster and Evacuation Procedure, Cyclone Response plan, etc.)
  • Provide leadership to the emergency response contractor team and support the contract owner to ensure contract requirements are fulfilled
  • Oversee oil spill response capability development and maintenance including coordinating with the Australian Emergency Management Specialist
  • Collaborate with Emergency Management peers in Australia to identify opportunities standardise Emergency Management process and share lessons learned from EMT exercises or response scenarios.
  • Engage with the Global Emergency Management function

To be considered for this role, applicants should have:


  • Experience in the execution of Emergency Management processes within Australia or similar Oil & Gas facilities
  • Demonstrated ability to apply critical thinking skills and proactive desire to solve problems, working independently and meeting deadlines.
  • Demonstrated ability to manage multiple projects and competing priorities
  • Demonstrated communication, facilitation and influencing skills with internal stakeholders across functions and assets with ability to interface and engage with business unit and enterprise stakeholders.
  • Ability to foster cooperation & collaboration amongst individuals and groups; solicit ideas and input; and serve as a role model for integrity and trust
