Job Summary:
The Staff Electrical Engineer, working under general supervision, is responsible for working on concurrent electrical projects, managing schedules, and resources efficiently, collaborating on distribution projects, predicting electricity consumption, securing power supply, interpreting power system models, improving power quality, planning electrical substations, producing detailed electrical drawings, and addressing field failures. The role plans the prospective development of electrical substations, encompassing design, construction, and management to ensure effective and efficient implementation within specified parameters and industry standards. The role produces comprehensive electrical drawings to facilitate effective understanding and implementation. The role assesses electrical system field failures, identifies root causes, communicates findings to operations, and delivers routine engineering support for existing infrastructure and facilities.• Works on concurrent electrical projects, including budgeting, scheduling, and resource allocation, ensuring efficient management of multiple initiatives within the specified timelines and financial parameters.
Job Description:
• Collaborates within a diverse team, including engineers, field operations, and EHS staff, to conceptualize and executes numerous distribution projects, ensuring the safe and efficient design and operation of company-owned power infrastructure with comprehensive design packages for both overhead and underground projects.
• Predicts electricity consumption for precise geographical regions and comprehensive field planning, ensuring accurate forecasts for optimal resource allocation and energy management strategies.
• Engages with various utility companies to secure sufficient power supply for upcoming loads and ensure the fulfillment of future energy requirements.
• Demonstrates extensive knowledge of API 500, NEC Code, and associated electrical codes.
• Interprets electrical power system models for forecasting electrical requirements and identifies and resolves potential issues through troubleshooting.
• Uses equipment, including Capacitor banks, regulators, and reclosers, aimed at improving power factor, increasing system efficiency and enhancing power quality within utility infrastructure, ensuring efficient and reliable electricity supply.
• Assists in planning the prospective development of electrical substations, encompassing design, construction, and management to ensure effective and efficient implementation within specified parameters and industry standards.
• Produces comprehensive electrical drawings for review by senior electrical engineers to facilitate effective understanding and implementation of electrical systems.
• Assesses electrical system field failures, programs SEL relays and reclosers using acSELerator software, identifies root causes, communicates findings to operations, and delivers routine engineering support for existing infrastructure and facilities.
Education:
• Bachelor's Degree in Electrical Engineering, or any other related discipline and/or commensurate work experience is required.
Experience:
• 3+ years of relevant experience, preferably in areas such as Electrical Engineering, Power Infrastructure Engineering or a related field. Industry experience is preferred.
