At Enbridge, we are committed to delivering safe, reliable energy while driving high performance and innovation. We are seeking an Instrumentation and Controls Technologist to join our Utilities & Power Operations team across Ontario — a hands-on, technically demanding field role with direct impact on the development, selection, installation, programming, and commissioning of telemetry field assets, including support for communication, odourant, Supervisory Control and Data Acquisition (SCADA), control, measurement, data collection, and electrical systems.

This role is ideal if you enjoy working in the field, using your technical knowledge to protect people and ensure natural gas safely reaches communities across Ontario. Apply today to explore your potential at Enbridge!

Note: Internal job title is Telemetry Advisor.

What You Will Do:

  • Take part in the implementation, commissioning, troubleshooting, and upkeep of Electrical, Controls, and Communications systems and projects, including programming of Remote Terminal Units (RTUs), Backup Generator installation and programming, and Electronic Pressure Recorder (ERs) installations and maintenance.

  • Develop, propose, select, install, calibrate, program, commission, manage, and maintain components of Telemetry/SCADA systems — including gate and regulation station assets, remote terminal units, station controls, wireless infrastructure, grounding systems, electrical cabling, low voltage and emergency/backup power supply systems, and technology upgrades.

  • Respond promptly to reported telemetry or odourization incidents and outages. Ensure minimal system disruptions by working closely with Gas Control, Station Operations, and SCADA staff. Prepare reports identifying failure causes and recommend or implement plans to prevent future issues.

  • Independently troubleshoot, perform preventative maintenance, repair, and replace electrical, telemetry, and instrumentation equipment. Calibrate and troubleshoot measurement devices in field settings. Ensure all work aligns with applicable codes and standards.

  • Participate in on-call duties across Ontario (remote support and physically on-site) on a rotating cycle, and support team members, internal and external collaborators across the province.

Who You Are:

  • College graduate in the field of Instrumentation/Controls and Electrical Technology, Programmable Logic Controller (PLC), Robotics or Instrumentation, or Boiler & Motor Operation.

  • 5–7 years of related field experience in the areas of telemetry, controls, and/or electrical work.

  • Strong diagnostic and problem-solving skills; ability to read and interpret electrical and logic drawings.

  • Solid working knowledge of Remote Terminal Units (RTUs), PLCs, and Electronic Recording Devices (ERs).

  • Ability to respond to on-call duties on a 24-hour/7-day rotational basis throughout the province and willingness to travel across Ontario.

  • Understanding of natural gas pipeline field assets in transmission, distribution, and storage systems is an asset.

  • Capable of understanding, programming, and defining the philosophy of control systems is preferred.

Working Conditions:

  • This position functions in a field setting that involves regular exposure to harsh weather conditions and isolated locations. Safety gear is necessary to avoid severe or lost-time injuries.

  • Frequent travel is required between stations and reporting offices.

  • Work includes both indoor and outdoor activities and requires high attention to detail for long periods of time.

  • The role involves a hazardous material environment (Oil and Gas).

  • You will undergo various background screenings that includes but is not limited to 5-year driving record, criminal check and a company sponsored medical.

Salary:

  • Ranges from $72,900 – $116,640 CAD for Canadian locations (except Alberta) based upon candidate’s experience, skills, and internal equity.

  • Applicable compensation policies and guidelines apply to internal candidates.

Benefits:

  • A flexible benefits program that allows each employee to select the level of coverage needed for their family in the areas of health, dental, insurance, and disability.

  • A paid maternity and parental leave benefit that offers up to 20 weeks of paid leave for birth-giving parents and up to 12 weeks for other eligible parents, providing flexibility and support during this important life event.

  • Valuable retirement savings plans, including a savings plan with company stock as an investment option.

  • Paid time off/vacation/sick, plus paid personal days off (depending on location), and paid holidays.

  • An Employee and Family Assistance Program.

  • A Wellness Program, which focuses on supporting healthier employees by providing tools, resources, and opportunities to improve physical, mental, social, and financial well-being.
