Safety is at the core of how we operate—and the Supervisor Safety Mangement Systems plays a critical part in making that commitment real across the enterprise. Reporting to the Manager, Safety Shared Services, this leader will guide a team of safety professionals responsible for designing, delivering, and continuously improving enterprise‑wide safety management programs and tools. With a strong focus on alignment, consistency, and operational reliability, this role ensures safety is embedded through common systems, governance, and practices across all business units.

What You Will Do:

  • Lead and supervise a team responsible for enterprise-wide safety management programs, tools, documentation, and support services that enable operations and projects. Provide direction, coaching, and support to team members.

  • Oversee development, implementation, sustainment, and continuous improvement of safety management system-related programs (including supporting processes, templates, standards, and governance) to ensure regulatory compliance (e.g., CER, PHMSA, FMCSA) and industry best practices.

    • Enterprise-level safety management standards and programs

    • Enterprise contractor safety management (i.e., prequalification, safety performance, oversight)

    • Enterprise driving safety (including commercial driving, and telematics)

  • Drive enterprise alignment of safety practices across business units (common terminology, governance structure, procedures, and integrated approach) and act as a key liaison to collaborators.

  • Establish and maintain service/support models that are consistent, repeatable, and sustainable for internal partners and interested parties; monitor and report the health and performance of these services.

  • Lead, implement, and individually contribute to specialized or high-impact initiatives to close gaps, mitigate key risks, and advance enterprise safety priorities. Ensure MOC processes are followed to ensure changes to policies and procedures impacts are understood, planned for and changes are communicated and documented effectively to manage risk and maintain safe and responsible operations and projects.

  • Prepare and contribute to leadership/committee reports and presentations for senior stakeholders and governance groups.

Who You Are:

  • Related university degree (preferably in Occupational Health & Safety) and a minimum of 7 years of progressively responsible health and safety experience including leadership roles. If you don’t possess a Bachelor’s degree, an additional 3-years’ experience is required (for a total of 10 years).

  • Demonstrated management, leadership and coaching/mentoring skills.

  • Demonstrated ability to be innovative, strategic, initiate and manage change, work collaboratively, negotiate, influence, facilitate, solve problems, make decisions, work independently, manage multiple priorities, and deliver results.

  • Proven interpersonal, communication, writing and digital literacy.

  • Undergo various background screenings, prior to hire, that include, but is not limited to, a 5-year driving record, criminal record check, a company sponsored medical and drug testing.

  • Experience in developing health & safety management systems within an operations and office environment within the oil and gas or petrochemical industry.

  • Further education, training and experience in contractor safety management, and fleet and commercial driving safety would be an asset.

Working Conditions:

  • Office environment, requiring extensive work at a desk on the computer and often daily meetings/exchanges both in person and online (i.e., video conference, phone).

  • Up to 15% travel to other locations within North America; valid passport required.

Physical Requirements include but are not limited to:

Grasping, kneeling, light – moderate lifting (objects up to 20 pounds), reaching above shoulder, repetitive motion, typing, sitting, standing, visual requirement (able to see screens, detect color coding, read fine print), hearing requirement and the ability to sit at a computer for long periods of time.

Ability to: understand, remember and apply oral and/or written instructions or other information, understand complex problems and collaborate/explore alternative solutions, organize thoughts and ideas into understandable terminology, organize and prioritize work schedule on a short-term basis, make decisions which have moderate impact on the immediate work unit and monitor impact outside this area, understand and follow basic instructions and guidelines, complete routine forms, compose letters, outlines, memoranda and basic reports and communicate with individuals via telephone.
