gamma ray densitometer

(noun) An instrument that measures fluid density by directing a beam of gamma radiation through a pipe or vessel and detecting the attenuated signal on the opposite side. The degree of attenuation is proportional to the density of the fluid, enabling determination of phase fractions in multiphase flow.
