Are you passionate about emergency management, business continuity, and organizational resilience? Join Suncor as a Senior Safety Advisor, Emergency Management. In this role, you will provide enterprise leadership and subject matter expertise for Suncor’s emergency management and business continuity program. As the Enterprise Process Lead, you will work closely with the Enterprise Process Owner, operating site process leads, and key stakeholders to enhance enterprise performance, strengthen emergency preparedness and response, and build business continuity resilience across the organization.
Minimum requirements:
8 or more years of experience in Disaster and Emergency Management, Emergency Services, Business Continuity, Occupational Health and Safety, Public Safety, Risk Management, Engineering, or a related discipline. Formal education in relevant field is an asset
Strong knowledge of emergency planning, preparedness, response, recovery and business continuity principles and practices
Completion of ICS 100, 200 and 300; advanced training such as ICS 400, role specific training, and spill response knowledge would be an asset
Working knowledge of relevant regulatory requirements for Suncor jurisdictions, industry standards and codes, including occupational health and safety requirements, applicable CSA standards and Alberta Energy Regulator expectations, including Directive 071
Track record of active role participation in emergency response events

Responsibilities:
Serve as the Enterprise Process Lead for process Manage Emergencies and Business Continuity
Support the Enterprise Process Owner in managing process effectiveness, performance and continuous improvement for the ME&BC (Manager, Emergency, and Business Continuity) process standard and best practices across the enterprise
Co-chair the site process lead network to promote performance, standardization, replication, and accelerate best practices
Maintain enterprise process documentation, tools, templates, and guidance materials
Provide process expertise and support during activations of the crisis management team and/or site response management teams
Support maintenance of the crisis management team roster, onboarding of new members, exercise schedule and facilitation, and ensuring the virtual EOC structure and documentation are in place for event activations
Facilitate business impact assessments at the enterprise or site level to support business continuity planning
Location and other key details:
The position will be based at the Calgary head office, located in the Suncor Energy Center at 150 – 6th Ave S.W. The position can also be located in Fort McMurray at our Syncrude site
Hours of work are a regular 40-hour work week, Monday to Friday with business travel to sites
Occasional support for emergency response outside of regular work hours may be required
