The Opportunity

Reporting to the Manager of Canadian Business Communications, and based out of our Vancouver or Calgary office, this is an exciting opportunity for an experienced and strategic Senior Communications Advisor to help shape and deliver communications for high-profile projects and operations in British Columbia. We’re looking for a strong communicator who brings a mix of strategic thinking, creative storytelling and disciplined execution, and who thrives in dynamic environments where the work is visible, fast-moving and meaningful. The successful candidate will play a key role in bringing complex projects to life through clear, compelling communications that build understanding, strengthen relationships and support business priorities across internal and external audiences.

What You'll Do

  • Help shape and deliver communications that support high-profile B.C. projects and operations, bringing strategy to life through thoughtful planning and strong execution. 

  • Provide strategic communications counsel to project leads and senior leaders, with a focus on clarity, consistency, timing and execution excellence. 

  • Translate strategic direction into integrated communications plans, tactics, timelines and workback plans that keep deliverables tracked and executed on schedule. 

  • Translate complex and technical information into clear, compelling narratives, creative storytelling and amplification plans that strengthen awareness, enhance reputation and build support for company and project priorities. 

  • Collaborate across communications, project teams, Indigenous Relations, External Relations, Government Relations and leadership to deliver integrated communications and consistent messaging through a strong one-team approach. 

  • Develop and deliver key messages, briefing materials, speaking notes, internal updates and audience-specific communications that bring major milestones and project moments to life. 

  • Support proactive issues and risk management by monitoring the internal and external environment, identifying emerging issues early, and coordinating timely communications responses. 

  • Maintain oversight of communications plans, stakeholder and audience considerations, approvals processes, dependencies and readiness requirements for major announcements and project milestones. 

  • Manage agency, vendor or partner support as needed, and keep deliverables aligned with strategy, timelines and budget. 

  • Track progress, maintain documentation and support reporting on communications activities, milestones, risks and results. 

Minimum Qualifications 

  • Bachelor’s degree in communications, public relations, journalism, political science or a related field. 

  • 7+ years of progressive experience in strategic communications, project communications, public affairs or a related field. 

  • Demonstrated ability to navigate complex regulatory, political and multi-stakeholder environments and translate insights into clear, strategic project communications that align objectives, mitigate risk and drive informed decision-making. 

  • Strong project management skills, including experience building workbacks, coordinating approvals, managing dependencies and driving disciplined execution. 

  • Experience supporting major projects, infrastructure, energy, regulatory or other complex operating environments is strongly preferred. 

  • Excellent writing and editing skills, with the ability to tailor messages for internal and external audiences and develop clear, concise communications materials. 

  • Strong issues management judgment, including the ability to anticipate risks, assess implications and coordinate effective responses. 

  • Proven ability to work collaboratively across functions and with senior leaders in a fast-paced, evolving environment. 

  • Strong organizational skills, attention to detail and ability to manage competing priorities with minimal supervision. 

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience supporting communications for large-scale capital projects, construction, energy infrastructure or other complex, high-profile initiatives. 

  • Understanding of the British Columbia regulatory, political and stakeholder environment. 

  • Experience working across Indigenous, community, government, media, workforce and internal communications files. 

  • Familiarity with issues monitoring, stakeholder mapping, communications planning tools and project tracking systems. 

  • Ability to balance strategic thinking with hands-on execution and strong follow-through. 

  • Experience working with agency partners, contractors or cross-functional project teams. 

  • Professional, confident communicator with strong relationship-building and influencing skills. 

This position requires candidates to:   

  • Travel, with overnight stays away from home (estimated up to 30% of work schedule).   

  • Occasionally be available for extended work hours outside of standard business hours to respond to on-call issues (early morning, evening and weekend at times. 

  • Participate in our emergency response team and on-call rotation.
