Job Description:

Purpose of the role

  • Take a leadership role in driving continuous HSSE improvement in manufacturing activities

  • Accountable for all lubricant manufacturing activities within the plant premise, including HSSE, quality, production planning, raw materials inventory, manufacturing and KPI driven performance improvement.

  • Manage the plant in the daily operational manufacture of products

  • Continuously strive to improve plant operations to maximise efficiency and effectiveness

  • Manage relationship with external service providers to improve plant safety and efficiencies

  • Lead, coach, develop and motivate plant personnel

Key Responsibilities

  • Manages/ensures standards related to OMS and HSSE are effectively sponsored throughout the operation.

  • Ensures compliance to all regulatory requirements with respect to manufacturing operations.

  • Ensures that clear metrics and objectives are established, communicated & engrained within the cultural fabric of the organization for the purpose of ensuring the well-being of people (employees, contractors, partners & community) and security of assets through the management and mitigation of risk.

  • Take on the role of Site Single Point Accountable (SPA) person for Control of Work (CoW) and Integrity Management Standards.

  • Leads the operation in the area of operational performance management and control through the collection, review, and analysis of appropriate leading and lagging key performance indicators.

  • Sponsors lean manufacturing initiatives within the plant to engage the total workforce on opportunities to reduce waste.

  • Drives operational cost efficiency and optimum performance across the plant through identification of new methods & practices to achieve production needs in support of the business.

  • Ensures the ethical conduct and execution of plant policies consistent with company & governmental policies and directs and supervises the interpretation and application of these policies to the plant manufacturing operations.

  • Provide leadership for all operations employees to ensure that appropriate direction is established with respect to the job expectations and that performance feedback is provided to drive clarity and developmental opportunity.

  • Reviews and approves recommendation of subordinates in matters of personnel or equipment changes within levels of authority.

  • Leads and provides assurance on the robust implementation of Management of Change policies, procedures and practices.

  • Serves as the on-site company representative in all matters relevant to manufacturing with all local governmental agencies.

  • Act in a manner consistent with the BP Values & Behaviours by leading through our values, building enduring capability, energizing people and maximizing value in both short and long term commitments

  • Act as central point of contact for crisis & continuity management in the facility / country, ensuring response team members are appropriately trained, response plans are maintained and exercised, and all BP and legislative requirements are met for crisis and continuity management. (SE 4.6)

  • Oversee that design & construction projects are conducted aligned with requirements. In ongoing facility operation, ensure operation of assets within safe operating and safe design limits, and ensuring inspection and maintenance of facility assets to meet all applicable BP Group Defined Practices and BP Operating Management System requirements. Involve facility management in discussions to ensure process safety, design & construction, asset operation and inspection & maintenance activities are appropriately tracked and conformance to requirements is maintained.   • Intermittently may assume Contract accountable manager responsibilities to ensure the safe execution of the contracted work while applying the Working with Contractors process for the manufacturing related services contracts, as assigned.

  • Act as task supervisor of compliance tasks as documented in the compliance management system, ensuring appropriate resources are in place and effective completion of these tasks by task owners.

  • Act as owner of operations within the area of accountability, ensuring all activities, products and services are appropriately documented to allow for regulatory applicability to be captured. Act as point of contact for these operations to create appropriate compliance tasks.

  • Manages/ensures standards related to OMS and HSSE are effectively sponsored throughout the operation.

  • Take a leadership role in driving continuous HSSE improvement in manufacturing activities.

Qualifications

  • A recognised university degree or equivalent experience in Engineering.

  • Mid level experience in Senior Management role involving manufacturing operation in lubricants, chemical, oil and gas or FMCG industry.

  • Demonstrated track record of leading manufacturing operations with a heavy emphasis on manufacturing performance management.

  • Clear understanding of the fundamental principles of the working of the plant and how materials, manufacturing process, people and assets interact to support conversion of quality products in the most cost optimised way.

  • Possess strong leadership skills and able to use impact and influence extensively and effectively to create alignment around the vision, the methods and the steps required to enable the change.

  • Possess change management skills including resource planning, project/execution and computer based tools.

  • WSQ Implement Incident Management Processes training.

  • Risk Assessment and Management: Understanding potential operating risks on a daily and long-term basis; taking appropriate risk reduction actions, including elimination or assuring appropriate prevention and mitigation barriers (control measures) are in place, in accordance with BP/regulatory requirements.
